Oncology

This specialization covers the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, and divides by the modality used: medical oncology delivering systemic therapy including chemotherapy, targeted agents and immunotherapy; radiation oncology planning and delivering radiotherapy; and surgical oncology. Practice is by multidisciplinary team, with staging, pathology and molecular profiling determining the plan. In India the routes differ by branch -- a DM in Medical Oncology, an MD in Radiation Oncology, or an MCh in Surgical Oncology.
