This specialization covers how drugs act on the body and the body on drugs: receptor theory, dose-response and agonism, pharmacokinetics from absorption through distribution and metabolism to excretion, and systematic pharmacology of the autonomic, cardiovascular, central nervous, endocrine and immune systems along with chemotherapy and antimicrobials. Toxicology, adverse effects and interactions, and experimental and screening methods complete it.
